Hi Leon,

I see from your page that you're looking to get started in copywriting.

If you haven't checked it out already, I'd recommend reading The Well-Fed Writer by Peter Bowerman. It covers the business of getting started as a freelancer; writing not just marketing materials but just about anything that a business needs.

I followed much of Peter's advice when I started out and it worked well for me. Getting paid for writing material that businesses don't have the time to do themselves can be a great way to launch and learn the ropes. It also enables you to begin building a portfolio of work while you study the the more highly skilled, and better paid, stuff.

I'd also recommend The Copywriter's Handbook by Bob Bly for solid, condensed information on the day-to-day aspects of the trade.

Other than that, Leon, read every day and write every day.

Thanks for your comments on the library. It's a bit of an obsession with me but you never know when you'll need to quickly look up the population density of Moldova!

Let me know how you get along.

Vince

P. S. in case you're curious, the population density of Moldova is 129 per sq. km :-)
